Portable desk from the middle 1800s. When I got it at an estate auction 50 years ago I was told it was usd in tjhe Civil War. The outside dimensons are 7 x 10 1/2 x 2 1/2. Inside dimensions are 6 3/4 x 9/4 x 2 3/8. Has built in inkwell and one compartment.Cover has a design on top. Top cover is slightlyt larger than body. Tha base extends out 5/16" from fron and side. There is a piece 3" long missing form one side on the bottom,
