This auction is for rental of our luxury Gulf front condo in the White Sands complex on Sanibel Island, Florida. The condo has 2 bedrooms and a den (with a high quality sleeper sofa), 2 full bathrooms, a full screened balcony, a large kitchen, and a dining and living area all directly overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. The White Sands complex has only 14 units, and is situated on three acres of Gulf front property, so it is very exclusive. On the grounds is a private tennis court and a large heated pool that just the 14 condos of White Sands share.

We made significant upgrades to the condo while we are there in last summer, such as new master bedroom furniture with king sized bed, remodeled bathrooms with granite sinktops, new kitchen appliances, plasma TV, general redecorating, high speed internet, etc, so please look at our website to see all this.

The Gulf of Mexico is directly in front of the condo, so direct Gulf views are enjoyed from the living room, master bedroom, kitchen, eating area and porch. Our condo is on the first floor (of three), but that first floor is elevated about 10’ off of the ground. As you can see in the pictures, our unit looks directly out to the Gulf, overlooking the pool and protected dunes area of natural seagrapes and sea oats. White Sands has a private boardwalk from the pool through the seagrapes to the beach.

Sanibel is a coastal island on the southwest coast of Florida, about three miles off the coast of Fort Myers, Florida. Ft. Myers has an international airport with direct flights from many major domestic and international cities. The condo is well under an hour drive from the airport. Some people choose to fly into the Tampa, St. Petersburg, Miami, or Ft. Lauderdale airports, but you will have a 2-3 hour drive to the condo. Another option is to fly into Orlando, stay at Disney for a day or two, then drive 3.5 hours to Sanibel, and fly home from Ft Myers after your week on Sanibel. Connected to the north end of Sanibel is Captiva Island, and south of Sanibel across the Sanibel causeway is Ft. Myers Beach, Naples and Marco Island.

We offer our condo on e-bay to fill in some of the gaps in the rental schedule, so you’ll find that these auctions are for specific weeks, and tend to be somewhat last minute. Please call or e-mail us for information about other weeks that are further out in the schedule. The rack rate for the weeks offered in this auction is $1260/week.

Rental begins Saturday at 3pm and ends the following Saturday at 10am. You will pick the week you want at the end of the auction. At the start of this auction all the weeks listed above were available, though our rental agent continues to offer these weeks to their customers at the rack rates until we tell them that we have a booking. If you win the auction and then find that the week you want was rented during the auction by our rental agent (little chance of this due to the short auction period), we will cancel the auction.

If you want multiple weeks you can give us a call and we can usually offer a discount if they are available.

The condo comfortably sleeps six. There is a king bed in the master bedroom, twin beds in the second bedroom, and a queen size sleeper sofa in the den. The bathroom off the master bedroom has twin vanities in one room, and a toilet and shower in a second room. The other bathroom is just outside the second bedroom and den. There are three TV's, including one plasma screen, and a VCR/DVD player. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is also a full size washer and dryer in the laundry area just off the kitchen.

Payments and Paperwork - The bid price is for the whole week, not per night - I'm just starting the auction at a very low price. All payments for your stay will be made to our rental agent on Sanibel, RE/MAX of the Islands. We will contact the winner of the auction to give them RE/MAX’s toll free number so that they can call and give a credit card number for a $200 down payment, then follow up with a personal check for the balance of the cost. Your total cost for this week will be comprised of the winning bid, a $100 cleaning fee, a $45 damage waiver fee, state and local taxes of 11% on those items, and a $30.55 booking fee. For example: If your winning bid is $1000, then you will pay $1000 bid + $100 cleaning + $45 damage waiver + $125.95taxes + $30.55 booking fee for a total cost of $1301.50. Of course there's no shipping charge for this!

When you arrive on Sanibel for your vacation, you will pick up and drop off the keys at the RE/MAX office, which is about 1 mile from the condo near Bailey's General store. In the unlikely event that there are any problems with the condo you can contact RE/MAX for help.
