This adapter allows you to read CompactFlash cards from your camera directly through your laptop PCMCIA slot. Besides memory cards, it can also work with all other devices having CompactFlash connector provided you have the appropriate drivers for your device. I.e. the most common would be a CF WiFi or GPRS card.

If you need to connect a CompactFlash Type 2 device (such as a MicroDrive), then you need a Type 2 adapter. Type 2 are a bit thicker, and therefore they require an open space above and below to fit the PCMCIA height.

This adapter by itself does not require any drivers. It is a passive device. Only the CompactFlash device you connect will need drivers. Memory cards already have drivers built-into all versions of OS.
