Ø Power Field Batch 3f (3 Fields) is a Data Collection Scanning Program designed to function in place of Motorola Symbol Technologies Phaser default program. (Phaser Default program has one scanning field)
Ø THREE Fields of hand keyed or scanned bar code Data may be collected.
Ø All the Fields can be customized to provide guidance and bar code length controls per each scanning field.
o Unique Field Names can be assigned to each scanning field.
o Each Field can be set as Alpha/Numeric or Numeric only.
o Minimum and Maximum Bar Code Lengths can be set.
Ø Program can be downloaded to an unlimited number of Phaser scanners
o No additional scanner Licenses are required

1. Scan
Ø Once you have chosen to begin scanning the first user defined scanning
field will appear then as the user scans each subsequent user defined
scanning field will appear.

Ø After Last Field has been entered the completed Scans are recorded.
Ø Date/Time is silently recorded as the last field for each completed record.
Ø Pressing “ä” will always let user back up to previous scanned entry.
Ø The previous entry “ß” key option cannot be used after the last field has been

2. Send File:
Ø When user chooses Send File a New choice screen appears.

Ø Once a choice is made a built in delay gives user time to place the scanner in the cradle.
Ø The collected Data is sent so that it can be received into an open Text File, Word Document, Excel or Access receiving table or Open Access receiving screen.
Ø Data is sent in two formats depending on how the cradle is connected to the computer.
Ø A dot text file is sent when the scanner is connected via an RS232 9 Pin Female direct connect Cable, cradle to host PC. (Example Below)

§ The file is sent in this format so that multiple scanner users can download to one central pc without overriding the previous file.

4. Edit Field Names:
Ø Each Default (None) Field Name can be changed to provide unique prompts to guide the end user when scanning data.
Ø Field names can be up to ten characters.
Ø Scan Fields can be set as (1=A) Alpha Numeric or (3=#) Numeric Only data collection fields.
Ø Bar Code Scanning Lengths can be set for each individual field.
o Default lengths Min (0) - Max (30).
o Setting Max Past 30 is not recommended.

Ø This option allows user to erase Data from a past download that was not erased.
Key board Definitions:
FUNC
FUNC This key allows user to call upon program defined Function calls such as F1=Menu.
Up é or Down ê Arrow Keys these keys allow user to Scroll through the Sub and Main Menus.
MODE This key allows user to switch between Alpha and Numeric letters on keypad.
BK Pressing this key allows user to Backspace over a hand keyed letter or number.
ä The star key allows user to call upon program defined Escape sequences.
ENTER Pressing key confirms a choice or data entry.
Additional Keyboard Function Notes:
1. To put a Decimal point (.) into numeric data, type in the numbers before the decimal point, then press the mode key, press the decimal the zero (.0), and press the mode key again. Now resume typing in the values to the right of the decimal.
2. To enter a Dash (-), press the mode key once, then the zero (.0) key twice.
3. To enter a Blank space ( ) press the mode key once, then the zero (.0) key three times.
Alphabetical Letters
- To change a Number key to an Alpha Key (Like the following key ABC 7) press the mode key once, then the Number (0-9) key once each time for a different letter. If the cursor moves to the next spot before you get the desired letter simply press the BK key to change the letter. Press the Mode key when you wish to return to Numeric only Format.
How to access System Menu
Applies to a 4 Meg Motorola Symbol Phaser
Use the following keypad sequence to gain access to the scanners built in program:
1. Begin by pressing the FUNC key then the ß key the scanner will warble and begin to reset.
2. Once it begins to reset immediately press the FUNC key again then press the BK key.
3. Once completed the “Phaser Setup” will appear.
Below is a list of available options. Press the Up or Down arrow keys to scroll through them. Press ENTER to select a menu option.

4. Erase File Select this option to erase collected data files (A-H). By pressing the MODE key and then a number key (7-9) you can clear the files.
5. Version Select this Menu Option to retrieve the Memory Size and Software Version of the scanner.

§ The above key sequence can also be used to access the System Menu of older Phaser scanners with previous scanner versions and smaller memory sizes.
§ Motorola Symbol no longer produces Phasers with a 1 Meg memory or older software versions, but we always strive to provide assistance whenever we possibly can.
