BLACK REQUIEM VESTMENT SET 5 PCS. 20th C. Black requiem vestment set, black silk damask like material with repeat cross pattern. Purple and black orphery panels, mandorla IHS medallion on back, lined in black material. Includes: chasuble: 39''L back, 26''W. back, 33''W at shoulders, 30''L front from collar, 23''W front. Chalice veil: 21'' x 20 1/2''. Burse: 8 3/4'' x 8 1/2''. (pocket form). maniple, 33''L plus fringe, stole: 74''L. plus fringe. Marked: A Harbro Product, Frank H. Kirner, Pittsburgh, Pa. Condition; minor wear. Provenance: Sold by the Diocese of Pittsburgh in the 1980's at the time of church closings in Braddock, Pennsylvania. Note: the use of black vestments, once out of favor has been universally revived by the Catholic Church through Pope Benedict XVI Moto Proprio.
