I have up for auction a vintage 1948 © Gilbert Erector Walking Beam Engine No. 7 ½ Engineer’s Construction Set. The set is in good condition for its age. The set is manufactured by A. C. Gilbert, Co., New Haven, Conn., U.S.A. I’m no expert on this set, but I’ll do my best to explain the contents. There are over 150 pieces, not counting the screws and nuts. The cases measures approximately 20"L x 12"D x 3-1/2"H. The hinges and handles are in working condition. Minor surface rust on case. The decals are still present on the inside and outside of the lids. Some minor wear. Nothing to worry about. There is no engine. There are two different sizes of wrenchs, lots of gears and pulleys. There are 4 large wheels. Two cans of miscellaneous screws and nuts used for assembly. Lots of beams, angles, girders, discs and base plates. Still a nice set for its age. What a great find!
