Hardy a secretary’s desk was without this accessory when we “wet” envelopes and stamps by licking before the days of self-adhesives
If you every licked the horrible tasting glue that they used on these envelopes and stamps, you can understand why any self-respecting boss would have provided his secretary with one of these. It is marked “Holdon Manufacturing Company, Los Angles, California. In 1947, this company began to manufacture the first commercial “Electrophotography” copy machines, which later became known as “Xerography” machines. About this time, Holdon renamed itself The Xerox Corporation. Copy machines from thereafter were call “Xerox machines”. This device has a water compartment with a wick that keeps a pad moist for the envelope flaps and stamps all had to be wet to seal. There is a brass roller that seals the envelope also. It is in good shape with some of the gray “crinkle” paint “skinned” in places. The winner in the United States adds insurance (recommended but not required) to the shipping costs. For shipping to other addresses, please contact us for costs,
Until recently, I thought that the only items that really needed insurance coverage were delicate items. Earlier this year, however, the USPS managed to break a snow globe that we shipped to a customer, which was almost as tough as a bowling ball. The customer was unhappy and we refunded his payment, but we cannot afford to do this any more. If you win and expect a refund for loss or damage, please choose the insurance option. Those that have visited our mall, Antiques@LakeCityTN will remember our jail cell that you see as you enter our mall, Well, one morning this week at roll call, we were missing an inmate. We downloaded the security camera and lo and behold, we have this picture. If anyone sees this fellow, we would appreciate it if you would tell him that Casper misses him. We always quote the shipping costs and insurance costs to the successful bidder together with a strong suggestion that the insurance option be chosen. We realize that many items are not susceptible to damage in shipment, but all are subject to being lost in shipment. If the Insurance option is not chosen, or if it is not available to overseas addresses, we simply cannot be responsible for loss or damage. We never have a reserve, and we DO accept Paypal.. We also accept personal checks, money orders, MasterCard and Visa. Tennessee residents must have resale number or pay TN sales tax of 9 1/4 percent of the bid price and shipping.. If these conditions are not acceptable PLEASE DO NOT BID To email us with questions or compliments, please click on the picture of Casper , our antique mall Chief of Security. He is shown on the left on guard and on the right he is shown taking an evildoer to jail for booking. If, however, you want to email us with BAD news or criticism please click on the pictures of those who are obviously very mad |
