It is used to set the teeth on a band saw blade for a sawmill. If you sharpen your own saw blades, then you need this tool! You set every 3^rd tooth in one direction, the next series of every third the other direction, and leave the other 3^rd series without a set. You won't have to worry about adjusting the degree once you start setting the teeth -- this tool sets them all the same degree all the way around.
