Item Description
This 48-page souvenir program is lavishly illustrated in color and black-and-white with portraits of historical people associated with Mozart (Mozart himself, Beaumarchais, Emperor Joseph II, Lorenzo da Ponte), stage settings, and much more. The program has a separate cover and a four-page insert with details of the particular performance on Monday, May 30, 1994, at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna, Austria. Claudio Abbado was the conductor. The pictures show the outside front cover, outside back cover, a page showing the old Burgtheater and a portrait of a young woman writing a letter. The facing page has a young man. These two pages also contain short snippets of text in German (hers) and Italian (his).  There are also several rather racy bedroom scenes from engravings in black-and white

Most of the text is in German but the synopses are in German, English and French.

This intriguing document belongs in the library of any serious operaphile.

Condition is very good, small dog ear bottom right on front cover.
