The ETX-Autostar observation system consists of the ETX telescope, the Autostar and the Tripod. How you set up these three components would determine how precise and consistent is your observation. You need to look at the ETX telescope, Autostar and the tripod as an integrated system.
There is no overall instruction for the beginner. There is a manual for the telescope on how to use the telescope. There is also the very brief manual on how to setup the Autostar. There may be a manual for the tripod. Each part of the observation system (telescope, Autostar and tripod) comes with its instruction with very little overall consideration. It is important the system work with each other. Worst of all, the manual assumes that the beginner user know how the entire system should work together.

You are purchasing the ETX-Autostar Field Guidebook in Acrobat PDF format on CD only.NO printed material is sold. The software is available on CD to you at no charge, FREE, with the purchase of the Guidebook.
The Planetarium software you find on the CD is fully functional. If you install it on your Palm it will run as demo version and will give you plenty of time to try it out and check if you like it. After a while it will begin to show a remainder screen at program start to convince you either to register it or to remove it again from the Palm. If you decide to register, you will receive a registration code which you enter into the program. This will convert the program into the registered version and disable all remainder screens. When you register you will get a registration code you can enter into Planetarium that disables the reminder screens, so you can fully enjoy the program. The shareware fee is not very high compared to the amount of functionality you get. This allows the author to give you the software for a very competitive price ($24). However, The author needs some revenue to be able to continue developing software and supporting our users. .
The Winstars telescope control software Winstars included on the CD is a freeware. This a full version, un-crippled freeware with no trial or expiration period. NO upgrade is needed. The author Franck RICHARD welcomes donation as you wish. However a donation is neither required or demanded to use this software.
