- Highest aerospace quality carbon, manufactured by Mitsubishi Industries in Japan.
- Same carbon used for manufacturing Cerious Performance Automotive Products.
- Compatible with polyester and epoxy resins.
- Very easy to handle, most cheaper carbon is difficult to layup.
- Made using PAN material, not low quality PITCH material carbon flooding the market today. (A common method of making carbon filaments is the oxidation and thermal pyrolysis of polyacrylonitrile (PAN), a polymer based on acrylonitrile
used in the creation of synthetic materials. Like all polymers,
polyacrylonitrile molecules are long chains, which are aligned in the
process of drawing continuous filaments. When heated in the correct
conditions, the non-carbon constituents evaporate away, the chains bond
side-to-side (ladder polymers) and form narrow graphene sheets which eventually merge to form a single, jelly roll-shaped or round filament. The result is usually 93-95% carbon. Lower-quality fibre can be manufactured using pitch, or rayon as the precursor instead of PAN.)
- Make sure to ask your carbon supplier what the carbon is made with. Most carbon flooding market today is lower quality PITCH/RAYON carbon, which is more difficult to conform and use in typical manufacturing processes. Which also has lower mechanical(strength) properties.
- Small samples available upon request.
Look at the huge difference in strength in PITCH vs. PAN Fibers:
