Hill describes the Anderson voyages as “an important collection of English voyages richly illustrated,” noting that “Anderson sometimes gives the original accounts, others are edited or abridged versions, and frequently additional materials, from other sources, are added to give scope and depth to the narratives.” In addition to a number of maps and charts, many of the famous images from Cook’s voyages are reproduced here, including the detailed portraits of native peoples he encountered and their rights and customs.
