MID. SEPIK CHARM, TALISMAN, MALE ANGORAM PNG

I acquired this carving of a male figure with it's string bag)  in Canberra about 5 years ago from the widow of a missionary who had worked in PNG in the 90s. I don't know how old this piece is but it was collected in 1994 by the previous owner (all his items were carefully documented). The figure  measures 38cms (134"). It has ochre paint on it and both it and the bag  are blackened and charred and have a smokey smell even after all this time. Condition of both is very good, no damage. The figure has the original owner's cataloguing label.
