Apple
LaserWriter Pro 630
600 dpi PostScript Laser Printer

This
very good condition Apple
LaserWriter Pro 630 is a superb workhorse 600 dpi
PostScript laser printer based on the Canon EX engine, just
like the HP LaserJet 4 family. Its paper handling
abilities are unmatched, particularly with expansion options like the
500 sheet feeder or envelope feeder (not included). I've used it almost exclusively via
its Ethernet
port with Macs from System 7 through Mac OS 10.5, though it has several
interfaces on the back:
- Ethernet (AAUI)
- Apple LocalTalk (RS-422)
- Serial (RS-232)
- Parallel (Centronics)
- SCSI for External Font storage (HDI-30)

While
the plastic has yellowed a little with age, this unit is still in great
shape with no major dings, scratches, or broken components. The bottom
sheet feeder holds 250 letter-size sheets (8-1/2" x 11") while the
Manual Feed tray will accept up to 100 Legal size (8-1/2" x 14") sheets
or
smaller, including envelopes. Four
lights on the front indicate the
printer status at all times. For more details on the workings of this
printer, check out the users guide here.

They don't make printers this robust
anymore - this thing has a minimum
rated life of 450,000 sheets! As you can see from the test
page below, just over 14,520 pages have been printed on this.

This uses the widely available HP Laserjet
92298A or equivalent cartridges (such as HP 92298X high capacity or
Apple M2473G/A). I'm
including a new 92298X toner cartridge
so you can hit the ground running (rated for 8,800 pages). In addition,
the following are included as
shown below:

The
print quality of this printer has always been impressive, and I'm only
parting with it to free up some space in my cramped home office. It
never jams, always feeds consistently, and its 8 ppm speed is
adequate for even the biggest print jobs. The 8 Mb
of built-in RAM (expandable to 32 Mb) has never been a shortcoming - my
much newer Lexmark with 80 Mb of RAM performs similarly. Give my
beloved LaserWriter Pro a good home today!
