Polycarbonate (lexan GE tradename} is a virtually unbreakable and UV stabilized which offers effective resistance to sun exposure. This material has performed well in outdoor applications for 5 to 7 years. It is one half the weight of glass and 43% lighter than aluminum and has a continous service temperature is 250 - 270 F. Polycarbonate can be machined. cut (on table saw) , bent , glued for a ton of applications which include doors, greenhouses, patio roofs, safety guards, equipment enclosures, signs, chair mats, and tooling jigs, just to name a few.
