A very warm welcome awaits you at Mountain View, a rural family run B&B near Newmarket, Co. Cork, Republic of Ireland.
We are ideally located as a base for exploring the Cork/Kerry region. Cork City, Killarney, Blarney, Tralee, Kenmare, Listowel & Ballybunnion beach are all under 1 hour's drive.
This auction is for a 3 (three) night short break for 2 people sharing. It must be taken within 6 months of the end of this auction ie by the end of November 2008. We welcome children (under 2's free of charge, travel cot & high chair provided) and well behaved dogs and other pets too. Dogs are allowed to travel on ferry crossings from the UK without a "passport". UK bidders need a valid passport or photographic ID driving licence to travel to Ireland.
The winning bidder is welcome to book extra nights and/or bring extra guests (we sleep up to 6). Prices for extra nights/guests are given on my website below.

Please read the following information as many commonly asked questions are answered below:-

Your accommodation:- comprises a very spacious groundfloor room which offers scenic views of the countryside. The room is en-suite with a king-size bed, walk-in-wardrobe, remote control colour TV, alarm clock radio, dressing table, easy chair and hospitality tray with tea/coffee etc. A room with single beds is offered as an alternative if you prefer. It is en-suite with similar facilities but located upstairs rather than on the groundfloor. Just advise me which room you would prefer. Breakfast is included on both mornings.
The nearest railway station (Banteer) is 13 miles away with regular trains to Killarney, Tralee, Mallow and from there on to Cork City, Limerick, Fota and Cobh. Dublin is a 2 hr journey by train from Mallow.
We are about 70 min drive from Shannon & Cork Airports, Kerry Airport is approx 45 mins drive. We are roughly a 3 hr drive from Rosslaire ferry port
Things to do:-
Ballybunnion with its safe blue flag sandy beaches, rock pools and cliff walks is just 35 mile away, an ideal family day out. The town has traditional seaside amusements, arcades and shops as well as a variety of restaurants and pubs. There is also a large playground just up from the beach and of course the famous Links golf course. There are magnificant cliff walks, with a good chance of seeing bottle nose dolphins in the Shannon estuary. The birdwatching is fantastic too with nesting fulmar, chough, razorbill and rock pipits.
Tourists, golfers, walkers, cyclists, nature enthusiasts & bird watchers will all find plenty to do in the area. Tralee, Blarney Castle, Foynes Flying Boat museum, Killarney (National Park), the Ring of Kerry and Cork City are all easily reached. Mallow has a geneaology centre for those interested in tracing their family history. Salmon and trout fishing are popular as the rivers Blackwater & Feale are just 20 mins drive away. Also nearby is Ballyhass Lakes, a 2 lake trout fishery which is open all year (worm/bait allowed as well as fly).
Several excellent 18 hole golf courses are less than 1hrs drive away (including Kanturk, Abbeyfeale, Blarney, Mallow, Charleville, Beaufort & the famous Ballybunnion links course). There are 4 horse racing tracks locally too, Cork (Mallow), Tralee, Kilarney and Listowel which have both flat and jump cards throughout the year.
All around there are walks in the tranquility of the local forests and peat bogs. We are close to the Mullaghareirk Mountains which are home to breeding hen harriers. Also seen locally are red squirrels, hares, barn and long eared owls, dippers & stonechat. Ravens are heard calling overhead most days and breed near the B&B and in Island Wood which is a large mixed woodland just the other side of Newmarket. Dogs can be walked here off lead and it is wheelchair/pushchair accessible.
Plenty more to see and do locally; there is the spectacular Crag Caves (with indoor childrens ball pond/play area), horse riding/trekking, local 3 screen cinema, Liscarroll donkey sanctuary (free) and several play grounds for younger children to enjoy.

Choice of breakfasts including full Irish is served 8.00-9.30 am in our spacious dining area overlooking a large koi carp pool. Vegetarian/soya/gluten free options available (please advise when booking). We have free range hens and ducks who provide us with fresh eggs every day, you will never have tasted such a wonderfully fresh poached egg !! Children are welcome to help feed them and collect the eggs under supervision. We have a beehive and produced 26lb of honey last year.
Well behaved dogs are very welcome (small extra charge). Please be aware we do have our own 2 dogs who usually well behaved ! We have a large garden plus there are plenty of places to walk dogs locally both on and off the lead - see photo gallery on my website for details.

Please note that the holiday is 3 nights room, bed & breakfast only, the winning bidder is entirely responsible for travel arrangements/insurance/meals etc. There is no public transport ie buses here and very few taxis. It is therefore advisable to have access to a car to fully enjoy your holiday

PAYMENT METHODS:
Sorry but Paypal is the only method of payment I accept due to problems with UK bidders not understanding that I can't accept Stirling cheques. Let me know the dates you would like to book as soon as you can, but I do expect payment within 7 days whether you have dates in mind or not. The holiday is valid for 6 months so you don't have to decide straight away.
If you require a voucher as a gift for someone let me know and I will email this to you for you to print out yourself.
If you have a problem paying within 7 days please discuss this with me rather than ignoring my invoice as I will open an unpaid item dispute with Ebay on the 8th day to reclaim my fees.
