You hang it, plug it in, turn it on and the back ground spins and it looks really cool through the cut outs in the glass. Wish I had a way to show it running! It measures 12" round and is about 2.5" thick. Works on 110V AC and has a on/off switch. It has about a 5.5 foot power cord. The flag & eagle are on a real glass plate. It's well made and it's not a light weight piece of junk, it's rather heavy much more that one would expect.
