Background: Reishi mushroom have been used for centuries to treat the spirit in Chinese medicine. The first writings about reishi describe it as making the body lighter. While it doesn't seem to help treat weight loss or make the body float, it does help to solve some of its problems.
Reishi mushrooms are known to help lower chollesterol. They're also known for helping to make one live longer. They're still used in Chinese medicine to treat fatigue, upper respiratory problems as well as sleep problems.
In addition, reishi mushrooms are often used to treat the symptoms of hepatitis B as well as altitude sickness. It's also used to assist people going through chemotherapy.

Reishi is primarily taken to promote good health and lower cholesterol.
Blood: Reishi mushrooms can help to lower blood cholesterol as well as blood pressure. In particular, reishi tends to have the greatest effect on triglycerides.
Altitude Sickness: Reishi mushrooms can help to treat the symptoms of altitude sickness.
Upper Respiratory: Reishi can help to relieve cough and cold as well as problems with asthma.
Fatigue: Reishi mushrooms can help the body to fight fatigue. At the same time it can also help to treat insomnia.
Description:
Reishi mushrooms are native to coastal China. However, they're cultivated all over the world. The fruiting body of the mushroom is used for medicinal purposes.
Dosage:
As dried mushroom, take 1.5-9 grams daily.
As a powder, take 1-1.5 grams daily
As a tincture, take 1 ml day.
Mushrooms may also be taken in the form of a tea.
Safety:
Reishi mushroom can have some marked side effects such as dizziness, nose bleeds, and dry mouth. You should not take reishi if you are taking blood thinners. Pregnant women should not take reishi. It is best to be under the care of a professional health care provider while taking this herb. Consult your health care provider before beginning use of any herb.
