Furthering Reading Porcelain Paintings with decoration mainly painted with yellow, Green and purple colored glazes( but not red glaze)are called plain tricolor decoration. The techniques of the plain tricolor decoration in Jingdezhen during the Ming and Qing Dynasty were developed from those of the Tang Dynasty, and of those during the Song Dynasty and of Fahua glaze, but different from them. They were low-temperature colored porcelains made by applying lead glazes that had iron, copper and manganese elements as coloring materials to biscuit porcelain bodies that were fired at high temperature(12800C - 13200C ), and then fired in stoves at 8500C to 9000C. Plain tricolor decoration of Zheng De during the Ming Dynasty were made through sketching and carving on white porcelain bodies, and then applying coloring materials, and then firing at low temperature, They had high artistic attainments. Plain tricolor decoration of KangXi during the Qing Dynasty further developed. There were not only yellow, green and purple colors, but also snowy white, blue, etc. there were lots of ways to apply colors. Some decoration was made through applying colors directly to white porcelain bodies, and covering them with snowy white, and firing at low temperature. some were made by applying a layer of colored background to white porcelain bodies, such as to apply green, purple and white colors to yellow background, or to apply yellow and purple colors to green background. Also, there is a tricolor with China-ink background
