I am asked more and more about these, so let me give a clearer answer. I got this in a large bag. I tested a few, and they proved to be low karat gold. However, some have since shown to have likely been electroplated. They all weigh the same amount. None are magnetic. Perhaps it is better to assume that they are plated, although very few have told me this.
This gold miniature Mexican coin, possibly at about 8 karat, is a miniature
copy of the actual peso coin with Maximillian, the Napoleon puppet, from 1865. It is 1.1 cm
in diameter (not including the bale), and weighs .45 grams. Some have reported that these coins are HGE.
