New in Shrink.......pristine...some titles come from publisher wrapped in cello or plastic
New......................mint...as you find in a bookstore, although may have been handled
Excellent..............near mint, fine...not bookstore new, but looks like it has never been used
Very Good............may have owner's name inside or a gift message but no underlining or highlighting
Good....................no torn pages or damage but has been read and used; some highlighting or underlining ok
Fair......................pretty well used and marked up but still with good binding and bright pages
Acceptable...........serviceable; a bargain purchase in acceptable condition
Map Condition Grading
pristine............unfolded and taken right out of the magazine
near mint........not taken directly from a magazine but seemingly not used at all
very good........unfolded and looked at, but no damage/use = no tears, no writing, no stains
good................obviously used but not damaged; may show yellowing/aging
fair...................used; may have pinholes or tape at corners for hanging, tears repaired with tape, some writing
acceptable.......usually only used for pre-1950 maps that may have acquired storage damage, but also for maps
repaired in more than a few places; some of the harder-to find-maps may be had in this condition
