I built this home shop CNC machine a few years ago from plans purchased from John Kleinbauer at www.crankorgan.com. You can also view the plans and specs for this machine at the same site where he has many different plans for sale. This machine is called the Brute.
I built the machine pretty much to specs but most people change many parts of the machine while building to suit their individual needs or they fit the machine to materials they have on hand. On a scale of 1-10 I give myself about a 8 on this machines construction. It was my first machine and I think it came out pretty well.
I was planning on building a larger machine for a project and wanted to build this machine just to get my feet wet. Now the larger machine is about to be built and I no longer have any use for this machine. This machine hasn't been ran very much.
It uses a 3 axis 4aupc driver board kit from Hobby CNC. I can't remember the size of the stepper motors but it moves fast enough for any material that would be cut on this machine. The power supply is the Omega 400 from Coutant Lambda.

The only thing that needs to be added is home or limit switches.
I will include my set of plans for the original Brute as well and some other misc paper work on the project. I will also include some misc parts left over from the first build.
You will need a computer capable of running in DOS mode and applicable machine controller software such as Turbo CNC (free/low cost from Dak Engineering). I will also include my Turbo CNC setup on disk to get you up to speed as well as the Dremel MultiPro tool. The computer is not included.
In purchasing this tool you agree to take full responsibility for its use. If you put a finger in front of a cutting blade the machine will happily cut through it without hesitation.
