Hi there, this is a Pyramid Book, New York 1968. Written by Theodore Sturgeon
5 Days Combined Shipping for auctions and/or Store Items. 5 days from when first item is won. Payment within 5 days at end of biddings. PLEASE do NOT bid if you do not feel shipping is fair. I would rather have you not and would like to save items for those who realize that it is.
IMPORTANT ATTENTION Buyers... Most ALL other book stores and sites charge typically $3.99 for shipping and then for additional items, and then heavier items are more due to the weight. Amazon, Albris, Abe Books, Barnes and Nobles, Borders, are examples of such and are the same shipping as I offer here on Ebay so its a good way to get some books at low prices.. Often even at these mainstream books stores the sellers will even have higher shipping rates,it is left up to the seller to determine. Here though I choose to go the usual end of shipping costs. I hope you keep this in mind when you are viewing the shipping on most all sites including ebay and mine. Also keep in mind the fees we pay for listing and receiving payments, into this factor.. This is the same on other sites too. Striving to keep them low is important to me. Ebay is a great place to come for the same low shipping you get elsewhere, plus incredible deals.
New change, I Prefer Paypal but will acccept either one of the two, either a Postal OR Walmart Money Order ONLY, Please do not send any other type of Money Order, or I will have to return it to you. I Will Ship Worldwide, (Only Paypal for International Buyers.) Shipping for this item is $3.99 First Class, with each additional Item being $1.99. This $1.99 additional applies to all auctions. Generally many of my items have $3.99 for first item and then $1.99 for each additional item and are according to weight of the item. If shipping is more for an item it is due to weight. Many books here though are 3.99 for First Class, first item.
I prefer to ship First Class, seems close to what media mail is, yet media mail takes up to 10 days. What is puzzling is that media mail is often more expensive then first class, yet first class gets to you within 2 to 5 days instead of 2 to 9 days with media mail. Go figure. But if you choose not media mail for your 5+ store items, then First Class will apply at $1.99 for each additional. SEE below about Store Items Versus, Auction only items versus Auction & Stor Items.
First takes about the same amount of time as Priority and yet is a little cheaper and so that is why I prefer First Class, however there may be times that I ship Priority and that may have to do with weight of items being shipped. As weight goes up so does shipping when you go to the post office. I find First Class is the best way to go usually. The $3.99 includes handling fees and envelopes for shipping your item. Many auctions will start at only 1 cent, please bare in mind that many of these books are worth far more then the start bid. Many items are collectors items that I offer.
Again, In times when weight is a factor, please keep in mind that some Hardcover and Larger books and some other items, there may be different shipping rates due to weight of the item, however you WILL see this in the listing and you will know up front, which will be calculated at checkout.
Store Items By Themselves: If you wish to purchase larger lots of items from my store front, of 5+ or more, not auction, then please email me with intention to do so and I will arrange for media mail shipping for buyers and as long as the items are not mixed in with auction items which generally get shipped by first class and which the shipping is $1.99 for each additional. From the store you can choose media rate on the 5th item and up.. OR you can choose to pay 1.99 for First Class for each additional. You will need to email me with intention of what rate you wish to have.
Store and Auction Biddings Both: In the case you are bidding 5 + store items, and also auction items, then items will be calculated at checkout by me, and you will have to wait for final invoice by me before checking out. PLEASE NOTE: If you do not wait for final invoice to be sent by me, then I will not be able to combine shipping due to not being able to generate another invoice... ALL auction books have 1.99 for each additional item, even when combined with books from store, when in auctions of $0.99 cents or lower. If auctions have higher start bids of $1.00 or higher, than I will include them as media mail with your store items. You will only pay $1.99 for each additional item for the lower start auctions of 0.99 cents or lower. It will all be sorted out at checkout providing buyer waits for final invoice to be sent before checking out, and so if buyer does not wait for final invoice from me, then they will be charged the higher rate, no matter what. I wont be able to change it once the checkout has taken place. Please email me with any questions and I will be happy to answer them. Please wait for final invoice. Sorry that I go into great detail about shipping but its important I feel.
All Auction Items: All auction items are $1.99. When a person is bidding also on store items, 1.99 applies for shipping and is calculated at checkout. If items in auction are 1.00 and over and 5+ items are purchased from store, then those 1.00 or higher items will be combined as Media Mail with Store items after the 5+ are purchased.
Bare with me while we get this store up and running. You'll see changes according to light bulbs that go off in my head. I learn as I go, as many folks do. I'm glad you stopped by and in the future we will have many metaphysical items such as Gemstones, Quartz Crystals and Specimens from all over the world, along with Personal Gem and Crystal Gemstone Jewelry that I personally make for the offering. I will also have many spiritual items and services as well. We will have Non fiction books such as Paranormal, UFO/ET, Research books, Spiritual, Healing, Metaphysics in all its avenues. In addition I will be offering Astrology Charts and Numerology charts for buyers, and along with some of the best Herbals you can find on the planet. I have many years experience in the department of herbology and healing. If you go to our store front you will see the description of my store and what our plans are in the future. I do have a lot of sci fi items that I will be offering in the meantime. 1000+ books that I will try my hardest to give good rates according to value. Many are collectible items that will be worth much money in the future.
We accept: Paypal Prefer, but will accept Walmart OR Postal Money Order ONLY. No other types of money orders will I able to accept. Any other type of Money Order I will return back to you. I Will Ship Worldwide, (Only Paypal for International Buyers.) Please make contact with me at auction end. Payment within 5 days.

Hi there, keep in mind that I feel it is important to describe books in all details and I realize that many sellers do not. I feel that based on collectors items on other sites, that it is important to me to share details up front and that the buyers should know so the condtion. Many might not list their details and condition of books on ebay, but I do and even though it seems when I may say something is lightly tanned, that many others that are selling the same item, does not list it as such. I feel it is important for the bidder to know up front and so some folks not familiar with how collectors items should be detailed with condition, they might take it like it is not as good an item as others offered, however, it is very common with many book sites across the globe to list details and conditions such as I do here. Please keep this in mind and do not let this deter you from considering my listing.
Thanks for looking... PLEASE read description and condition below. For international please contact me before bidding for international shipping rates.

Book & Condition: this books pages are in very good condition with no rips, marks, creasings or bends. Book pages are starting to tan due to normal aging. 1968 Vintage. Front and back cover in very good condition. Very slight edging and rubbing. Back cover has light discoloration in a few spots due to age and shelf wear. Faint small crease on corner of front. Very small. Overall this book is considered to be in Very Good + Condition. NOTE: The items that are in auction, many start at 1 cent, however, they are worth far more.. If they dont sell in auction within 1 or 2 rounds then I put them in my store and the pricing will be higher and be according to quality and pricing in the collectors realm; as well as what other book sites list them for, although I try to be less if possible. The condition plays a part in the pricing's that are listed as well. This is a good chance to get some collectible books with low start bid.

Venus PLUS X, by Theodore Sturgeon.
Charlie Jones Woke Up...
and nearly went mad... Hew was in a world of strange inventions, unheard-of buildings, unfamiliar language, and creatures who were like men but not men... or women. As the truth of what had happened to him, he fought hard to keep his grip on sanity. The one thing he could cling to was the knowledge of his identity. I am Charlie Jones: he told himself fiercely, over and over again. But he was wrong....
About the author
The Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award is given each year for the best science fiction short story of the year and is the short fiction counterpart of the John W. Campbell Memorial Award for best novel of the year, published in the US.
The award is in honor of Theodore Sturgeon, the great science fiction writer. It was established in 1987 by James Gunn, Director of the Center for the Study of Science Fiction at the University of Kansas where Sturgeon lectured and taught. The award was established in collaboration with the heirs of Sturgeon including his widow Jayne Sturgeon and their children. The award is presented every year in conjunction with the John W. Campbell Memorial Award for Best Science Fiction Novel at the University of Kansas.
The official site of the award describes it as "an appropriate memorial to one of the great short-story writers in a field distinguished by its short fiction."
For its first eight years (1987-1994), the Sturgeon Award was selected by a committee of short-fiction experts headed by Orson Scott Card. Beginning in 1995, the Sturgeon Award became a juried award, with winners selected by a committee composed of James Gunn, Frederik Pohl, and Judith Merril. After the 1996 Award, Judith Merril resigned and was replaced by Kij Johnson, the 1994 Sturgeon winner; in 2005, George Zebrowski joined the jury. Since 1999, one of Sturgeon's children has also participated in this process, usually Noel Sturgeon.
The current jury consists of James Gunn, Kij Johnson, Frederik Pohl, George Zebrowski, and Noel Sturgeon, Theodore Sturgeon's daughter.
Nominations come from a wide variety of science-fiction reviewers and serious readers as well as from the editors who publish short fiction. Nominations are collected during the winter by the Center's Associate Director Christopher McKitterick, who produces a list of finalists based on nominators' rankings. The jury then reads all of the finalists and debates their merits during the spring. The winning author is usually contacted in May and invited to attend the Campbell Conference; the winner often attends the last day or two of the SF Writers Workshop, as well.
The Sturgeon Award is presented during the Campbell Conference Awards Banquet at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, as the focal point of a weekend of discussions about the writing, illustration, publishing, teaching, and criticism of science fiction. Award-winners are listed below by year of publication. | | |
