The shelves are very sturdy and are made of solid oak and they won't bend or warp! Look at the huge carved base, the heart and soul of this dresser which has survived many years and many more to come!	This George III antique is simply amazing. Handmade in England in the eighteenth century this carved oak dresser is an astounding example of master-craftsmanship. Over the years this dresser has aquired a lovely and rich patina. The beautiful plate rack, hand-made during the Georgian period, is made of solid oak and has both beautiful demi-lune sunflower carvings along the top and swirling trim under each individual side shelf. The shelves are thick solid oak and will not warp or bend under normal use. One of the most appealing characteristics of this piece is the carved edge on the dresser's tabletop as it breaks up the straight edges with a beautiful wave design. The elegant pulls are made of solid brass and they compliment the oak grain beautifully. I could spend as many years this dresser has been around just looking at the detailed carvings and swirling trim or admiring the quality of craftsmanship such as the dovetailed drawers not only dovetailed in front but in the back too. The strong and sturdy bracket feet have kept this dresser standing for centuries and will continue to do so for many more years.
